Changes at the RCTV building

Revelstoke Cable TV is working on their building on Second Street West. The building was originally built further down the street on the site of the former Mountain View School gymnasium. It was a lodge building, originally owned by the Oddfellows, and later by the Orange Lodge. This photo shows it being moved to its current location in 1913. The bottom image shows it as it is today, Tuesday, October 8. The bricks on the front façade were apparently delaminating so they were completely removed. Although it is a century old it is not registered as a heritage building. Top photo courtesy of the Revelstoke Museum & Archives. Bottom image by David F. Rooney
