New First Responders at the Fire Rescue Service

Firefighters (from left to right) Liz Ploeg, Steve Bafaro, Byron Wilkey, Jason Jones and Sarah Lefebvre-MacDougall (missing are Brad Goodwin and Natalie Weir) are the newest First Responders with the Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service. On April 25 Fire Chief Rob Girard presented the new First Responders (Level 1) with their EMA Licenses after they successfully completed their program. “I am very proud of all the new First Responders and the existing First Responders who were recently recertified as First Responders Level 1,” Girard said in a statement. He said each individual gave up several weekends for the intense bookwork, studying and practical work required for certification. The First Responder Program provides initial emergency medical assistance to complement the existing BC Ambulance Service when members of the public require medical assistance. This brings the total compliment of First Responders serving our community to 17, said the chief. Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service
