Two 2010 RSS graduates received scholarships through the Secondary School Apprenticeship Program (SSA). Jeremy Murray (Battersby's Plumbing and Heating) and Cody Olsen (MC Mechanical), shown here with teacher Lori Milmine and RSS Principal Mike Hooker, each received $1,000 to help further their careers in the trades. SSA is an opportunity for any student, 15 years or older, to register as an apprentice and receive 16 credits towards graduation from work experience hours, while continuing classroom learning. To qualify for the SSA scholarship, students must graduate with a C+ average or better; complete a minimum of 480 hours of paid apprentice work; and still be pursuing a career in the trades six months after graduation.
