Highway 1 has been continuously expanded and upgraded from Kamloops to Alberta for quite some time. One area in particular that needed a more clear answer to the question what shall we do, was the Highway 1 RW Bruhn Bridge Replacement.
On February 1st, there was a second open house put on by the Ministry of Transportation in order to gather public input on options under consideration for the Bruhn Bridge and Approaches Project. Online input was welcomed from February 1st-18th totaling 800 individuals shared their thoughts on the following two improvements:
- One bridge option: Five-lane bridge replacement with approach improvements
- Two bridge option: Four-lane bridge replacement with new Main Street bridge and approach improvements
The ministry is considering stakeholder and public feedback as well as environmental and archeological considerations, finances and engineering as the provincial government seeks out the most viable option for the bridge replacement which is slated for this spring.
