The Toast to the Mountains dinner and silent auction put on by the Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier Friday evening brought in close to $3,000 profit for the financially troubled group.
“The money raised goes towards the development of Balsam Lake Bookstore on Mount Revelstoke National Park and the Friends’ operational expenses,” FMRG Executive Director Neills Kristensen said Saturday.
“The 1910 Rogers Pass Snow Slide Commemoration, Avalanche Awareness Film Night brought in $190 which will be put back into other events throughout the year.”
The Friends’ are labouring under a deficit and renovations at Rogers Pass Centre for much of this year is having a major impact on their ability to make money.
The dinner and silent auction at Powder Springs featured an excellent array of wines from Naramata’s Hillside Estate winery and a delicious four-course meal from the kitchen of the Powder Springs Hotel. Music was provided by Maritime Kitchen Party’ Trevor Wallach, Shannon Sternloff and Steve Smith. The items being auctioned off included photographs, outdoor wear, wine and advertising in The Revelstoke Current.
By and large a great time was had by everyone who attended. Here are some photos of the evening:
