Local artists went into overdrive this autumn and made like Santa’s elves producing a wide range of largely affordable artworks for Revelstoke’s discerning art patrons who know a really good bargain when they see one. And — Boy! — will they ever find great bargains at the Revelstoke Visual Art Society’s Christmas Shop, which opens this Friday, December 13, at 6 pm.

Every year the society offers an affordable art show just in time for Christmas and this year’s exhibition and sale has great buys ranging from ceramics by noted artists such as Sandra Flood, Cat Mater, Janet Pearson, Tanis Rebbetoy and Jacqueline Palmer. Then there are amazing paintings by Tina Lindegaard, Kristi Marcoffio, Julie Kozek, Eve Fisher, Pat Anderson, members of the Golden Girls watercolour group and other painters. There are gleaming hand-turned wooden bowls by Corin Flood and hand-made fishing lures and fly boxes by Ken Talbot. There are all these things — and more. Prices range from $20 to $400. Most are well below that upper limit.

All of the art will be available for immediate purchase.  In addtion, there will be a collection box for non-perisahable items for the food bank.  Please bring something to donate! And, just for something different, Community Librarian Kendra Runnalls and Assistant Librarian (and artist) Lucie Bergeron will  selection of art books and a new portable library checkout system on hand for anyone who’d like to borrow one of the Okanagan Regional Library’s art books.

The opening starts at 6 pm on Friday and closes at 9. However, the gallery is open from 12 until 4 pm daily until December 21.
