Nature’s floral bounty is gorgeous

We are lucky to live in a beautiful part of Canada. There are affirmations of that statement almost every where we look this spring and summer.

For the past couple of weeks I have been taking photos of some of the gorgeous trees and flowers popping up around town.

Lyn Kaulback knows I love flowering gardens and kindly invited me by to photograph some of the blooms in her backyard. Thanks for that Lyn.

This is not a definitive list of Revelstoke’s flowering landscapes but I do hope it will inspire us all make our city bloom. If you have some gorgeous plants you’d like to show everyone in town please send them to drooney1@telus.net as JPEGs.

Here are some of the lovely plants I’ve seen around town — not all of them in people’s gardens:

How about white bleeding hearts. Bleeding hearts are generally regarded as, like hollyhocks and grandmother's blue bells, old-fashioned flowers. Be that as it may they are hardy and fast-growing addition's to anyone's garden, whether they are white or pink. David F. Rooney photo

There are a lot of gorgeous rhododendrons in Revelstoke, but this one in the Anderson's yard on Connaught Avenue near Second Street West is one of the largest and most beautiful i have ever seen. It's easily 12 feet tall. David F. Rooney photo
