Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service received a generous donation from the Revelstoke Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and the Revelstoke Rotary Club for a second set of Jaws of Life.
Both the Hospital Auxiliary and the Rotary Club were royally thanked by the firefighters with a barbeque and a demonstration of the new Jaws of Life on a small compact car and a mini van.
“The firefighters are very thankful of this generous donation by both organizations,” Fire Chief Rob Girard said in a statement, “and this second set of extrication tools makes all the difference for rescuers when a second motor vehicle accident happens on our local roads and highways, which happens commonly in the winter.”
The Amkus Jaws of Life cost more than $27,000.
“Our Rotary Club sold a ton of Harley Davidson tickets in support and the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary put in countless hours at the thrift shop; all to support this great initiative” said Rotarian and Mayor David Raven. “Our Revelstoke Firefighters are truly grateful to these two wonderful organizations. The firefighters spend countless hours attending and rescuing the motoring public who find themselves trapped in their vehicles as a result of motor vehicle incidents or our local roads and highways.”
That sentiment was shared by Brad Faucett, president of the Revelstoke Fire Rescue Society. “This donation really is a gift that keeps on giving and we, the firefighters are very glad to be here to help” he said.
