Helping hands 2009-11-24Arrow Heights students Brandon Lavers of Grade Three (left), Shayna Seyl of Grade Seven and Stephanie Wallach, also of Grade Seven, pose with their award-winning pictures of coloured hands. They were among the local students who submitted 138 coloured hand pictures that were sponsored by generous shoppers at $2 a pop. The $276 they raised goes to help Paralympic Athletes train for the 2010 Olympics. Over $13,000 has been raised across Canada so far. According to AHE teacher Laurel Russell "from the decorated hands submitted by schools throughout Canada, 18 were selected as prize winners. I am thrilled to tell you that three of those students honoured are from our school!" Each student received an Olympic Coin Set, an Olympic Pin, a handclapper noisemaker and a letter of recognition.
