MLA Norm Macdonald has presented a petition signed by 120 Revelstoke residents supporting paramedics.
“Revelstoke residents are petitioning this House, asking legislators to address the critical condition of the ambulance service and to work towards recruitment and retention of skilled paramedics who provide the community with vital emergency services,” Macdonald said in the Legislature today.
This petition was developed in response to Bill 21, legislation that forced the end of paramedics’ job action.
“It is clear the community of Revelstoke supports paramedics,” he said. “People in this community know just how important ambulance service is. The BC Liberals have failed rural communities with the imposition of Bill 21. Rather than negotiating with paramedics to address rural issues, they’ve forced a contract that makes it very difficult for paramedics to serve in rural areas.”
MLAs have the right to present petitions in the Legislature after the daily Question Period.
