Incumbent MLA and NDP candidate Norm Macdonald opened his Revelstoke campaign office on Sunday saying “the people want a competent and trustworthy” government.
“It’s really clear that the people want a government that is competent and trustworthy,” he said in an interview before meeting with supporters for the opening of his local campaign office at 2B 300 First Street West.
He said times and attitudes have changed since the 2005 and 2009 election campaigns when voters in Columbia River0Revelstoke understood that they were electing an Opposition MLA.

Macdonald said the party and its leader, Adrian Dix, are offering competent and trustworthy government that will operate within the fiscal constraints imposed upon it by the global and national economic situations. The party’s platform will address issues revolving around BC Hydro, forestry and land-use, seniors, education and health care, he said.
The campaign formally begins on Tuesday, April 16, and will see a tussle in this riding between Macdonald and BC Liberal candidate Doug Clovechok. There is a BC Conservative Party candidate, retired accountant Earl Olsen of Fairmont Hot Springs. The Green Party and the Excalibur Party so far have not come forward with any candidate in this constituency.
Clovechok officially opens his Revelstoke office at 308 First Street West on Tuesday, April 16, at 2 pm. All supporters are invited to attend.
