Bye bye to the Friends 2013-03-27Travis Hunt (center, back) and Marie-Helene Ostiguy of the Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks talk to members of the moribund organization during a meeting held at Powder Springs on Tuesday evening. They told a sparse audience of less than a dozen people that much of the group’s retail merchandise has been sold off to meet the $35,000 tax bill the Friends owed Revenue Canada. There is an outstanding debt to the federal agency of abut $15,000. The group is continuing to sell off its stock and will have a monster sale April 27 and 28. Once the merchandise is sold the organization will fold completely as it has no hope of paying off its other $215,000 in debts. David F. Rooney photo
