Bantam Grizzlies develop sales savvy in addition to hockey skills 2013-03-10Bantam Grizzlies were busy selling hotdogs outside Coopers on Saturday to raise funds for their upcoming trip to Dawson Creek for the Provincial Championships March 16-22. They were assisted by Dennis Berarducci (right), the popular hockey announcer who was selected as this year’s Revelstoke Citizen of the Year for his many years of volunteer work. “It’s good to be out of retirement for a day,” Berarducci said. The kids have been super and the public response has been phenomenal.”The Bantams have also been collecting cans, selling lottery tickets and soliciting donations from local businesses, proving that being a strong athlete requires more than just fitness and sports savvy. According to Bantam player Josh Pilon, asking for donations was “nerve wracking at first but you get used to it.” Keyon Bittner added that donors were not just locals. “Lots of people from Alberta gave money and a few from Australia.” Laura Stovel photo
