Roseline Dorian Lajeunesse passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital in the early morning of February 26. She spent her last day surrounded by those who loved her. After a short illness, Rosie left us for the heaven she believed in so deeply. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Saturday morning, March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. with Father Aaron de Dios celebrant.
Roseline was born in Nelson, BC, on July 10, 1939, to parents Maurice and Cecile Lajeunesse. Rose was a beautiful little girl who took pride in her schooling. Despite living with epilepsy, Roseline always contributed to the world around her. After some time in Riverview and Tranquille, Roseline found her home in Revelstoke in 1981.
She was a fixture the HUB Centre, where she enjoyed baking and making sure all her friends and co-workers had their daily coffees. When the RACL moved downtown, Roseline loved working in the Lanzo Garant Tea House on Mackenzie Avenue. She participated on the Special Olympics Bowling team and proudly shared her score after each Saturday practice. Roseline loved music and dancing, as well as her work at the Revelstoke Racquet Den. She was an advocate for adults with developmental (dis)Abilities and served on the Board of Directors for the Revelstoke Association for Community Living in the 1990’s.
In her later years, Rose enjoyed her embroidery and “Seniors Day” with her friend Lillian Scarcelli. She also joined the Revelstoke Seniors Association where she loved to sing in the choir and spend time at the Moberly Manor Seniors Day Program.
Rose loved her family, friends and especially shopping. Although unable to attend church regularly in her later years, few things mattered more to Roseline than her Catholic faith.
Roseline was predeceased by her parents, infant sister Carmen, sister Doreen and long-time friend Danalee Clark. Roseline is survived by her loving big brother Ray (Ida) Lajeunesse; her caregiver for 18 years Gail Short and family; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends in Revelstoke.
