School District 19 held it’s first-ever District-Wide Spelling Bee and what a surprise that was. The 12 contestants from all three elementary schools duked it out linguistically for over an hour before the winners were decided: Emily MacLeod took first; Julia McKenzie won second; and Nolan Gale slipped into third.

There were hundreds of kids in the gym at Begbie View Elementary for the event and a lot of them even managed to sit still through the hour-long contest.

The Current video-recorded the entire event and you can watch the spelling bee in four parts:

Part Two

Part Three
