In Pictures: Spirit Fest Day One

Spirit Fest sprang to life on Thursday evening with three events — Jam Night at the Big Eddy Pub, Totally Board Movies at The Cabin and the Speed Dating portion of the Top Bloke and Top Chick contest.

The Big Eddy Pub was fairly quiet — audience-wise — but the Last Drop was jammed and predictably noisy for the the speed-dating event. Organizer Emma Kirkland had her hands full trying to get that under way but once MC Jean-Marc Laflamme started introducing the contestants things began to move right along.

The contestants for Top Chick are Victoria Leeson, Jennah Woods, Lindsay Craig, Jess Craig, Debra Brockelsby and Katie O Connor. This year there are only four guys vying to become the Top Bloke. They are Voodoo, Ben Jammin, Alex Cameron Cruden and Devin Cole.

On another note, Tourism Development Coordinator Meghan Tabor, is asking people interested in participating in the Amazing Race, which she notes is also a youth-friendly event, on February 10 to please register sooner, rather than later.

“Once again, we’re struggling with registration numbers for this event,” she said in an e-mail to Spirit Fest organizers.  “I know everyone in Revelstoke is last minute, but we really need people to pre-register for the event so we can plan the race accordingly.  So far we have one team signed up. Registration is at the Chamber of Commerce until Wednesday Feb 6.”
