The plug was pulled on power to about 50 customers west of town after a freight train accidentally snagged a Telus cable and pulled down four BC Hydro poles, BC Hydro Community Liaison Jennifer Walker-Larsen said Friday.
We’re not sure how that happened but the Telus cable might have been heavily snow laden causing it to droop,” she said.
Crews are on site working to replace the poles. One of the poles cannot be accessed and must be re-located.
Walker-Larsen said it may be Saturday afternoon before power is restored to the people and businesses in West Revelstoke. That’s the tiny community that is home to the Great White North Restaurant, Peaks Lodge and other businesses and homes.
