A Revelstoke man is now facing a charge of voyeurism, after being caught by Community Centre staff allegedly trying to capture images of individuals using a change room.
RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dan Moskalukl said that on the afternoon of Saturday January 5, while conducting their rounds, an alert Community Centre employee observed a man who appeared to be utilizing his cell phone to view under the change room doors.
The RCMP were immediately notified and the employee detained the 38-year-old man until police arrived. The local resident was arrested by police, his cell phone seized and he has since been released on conditions that include not returning to the Community Centre.
“In an effort to secure further evidence, investigators executed a search warrant on his residence on January 9 and seized home computers,” Moskaluk said. “These computers will be sent for forensic examination.”
The man resident will make his first appearance in Provincial Court on February 6.
The City of Revelstoke is working with the Revelstoke RCMP in reviewing their security measures to ensure that the proper safety and comfort of all community center clients is maintained.
If anyone utilizing the community center in the past several months has observed any suspicious behaviour, they are asked to contact the Revelstoke RCMP Detachment at 250-837-5255.
