The Senior Girls Avalanche emerged victorious from a seven-team competition for the coveted Last Spike title on Saturday.
“The first set was really close but Revelstoke geared down and won in the second set,” said co-Coach Kathy Hoshizaki. “We’re all very happy with this.”
Her colleague, Lori Borges said the win “was a good building block for us” as the team faces league matches in coming weeks. The first is this Tuesday against Lumby.
The girls Avalanche played against teams from six other schools for the title: Pleasant Valley in Armstrong, Okanagan Mission in Kelowna, Charles Bloom, Vernon Christian, A.L. Fortune in Enderby, Charles Bloom in Lumby, Eagle River in Sicamous and Osoyoos.
The Senior Boys title was taken by the Vernon Secondary Panthers who defeated Kelowna Christian Knights in two sets. The other schools with teams in the boys’ category were Okanagan Mission, Vernon Christian, Stelly’s Secondary from Saanichton and Charles Bloom. Revelstoke Secondary did not send a Senior Boys Avalanche team onto the courts this year.
