Revelstoke Secondary School’s Junior Boys and Girls played quite well against tough opponents during this weekend’s Last Spike Volleyball Tournament, winning second place in both categories.
“The girls were awesome,” said Coach Rob Evans. “To get here from the start of the year is not an easy thing to do. I am really pleased.”
The RSS Junior Girls A team consisted of Britt Evans, Christine Batke, Lindsey Chamberlain, Bronte Viznaugh, Cassidy Hale, Ellie Bay and Deli Harper.
The Junior Girls team lost to Correlieu Secondary School of Quesnel in two sets, 21-25 and 27-25.
The Junior Boys Avalanche lost to Kelowna’s Okanagan Mission in three sets. They won the first one 25-16 but lost the next two 23-25 and 9-15. The boys on the team were Devin, Camara, Shep Howatt, Adrian Maitre, Greg O’Hagan, Eric Schwenke, Braelin Kelly, Kurill Dubrovsky, Matt Tetrault, Clayton Murray, Zev Isert, Chris Wadey and Jake Wallach.
“The Revelstoke boys are to be congratulated on their play this weekend,” said Coach Graham Gale. “We would like to thank Mr. (Barry) Rourke for organizing an excellent tournament.”
The annual tournament attracted teams from Correlieu Secondary in Quesnel, Eagle River Secondary in Sicamous, Vernon Christian Secondary, Pleasant Valley Secondary in Armstrong, Okanagan Mission Secondary in Kelowna, Princess Margaret Secondary in Surrey and Selkirk Secondary in Kimberley.
The Senior Last Spike Tournament is to be held Oct. 23 and 24.
