The first one of the four giant transformers that arrived here last weekend is finally on its way to Mica, says BC Hydro’s Jennifer Walker-Larsen.
In an e-mail to The Current on Thursday she said “the transformer left Revelstoke this morning at 7 am and the transport to Mica took about 8 hours which is good time for such a big load.”
The truck, trailer, and transformer all together weighed in at just over 215 tonnes. Now that’s a heavy load. And there are still three more transformers sitting in the CPR Yard awaiting transport and another three still to arrive here.
Here are two photos from Jennifer that show the transformer under way along Highway 23 North.
