The Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) is hosting a Backcountry Workshop in Revelstoke on November 10 at the new Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre. The workshop is aimed at winter backcountry users of all types, and promises to be a day of sharing knowledge and experience.
“We’re very excited to be holding an event of this size in our home town,” acting CAC Executive Director Karl Klassen said in a statement.
“Our lineup of speakers was chosen for both relevance and the quality of communication. They all have important messages and they’ll be delivering those messages in ways that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.”
Along with a great list of speakers, there will be videos, draw prizes and lots of opportunity for questions and one-on-one chats with avalanche forecasters, researchers, search & rescue specialists and other experts in the field.
“We’d especially like to thank the sponsors of this event—the Columbia Basin Trust and the Revelstoke Credit Union,” Klassen said. “With their help, we’ve been able to keep this opportunity affordable, especially for students. We’re hoping for a great turnout from the backcountry sledders and skiers in our community and neighbouring towns.”
