Dennis passed away peacefully in the Fort St. John hospital with his family surrounding him on Friday, July 20th, 2012.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley Shepherd (Petruschak); daughter Tina Rickett; son Shawn Shepherd; brother Jim Shepherd and wife Tanja, sons Cody (Skye), Brice (Jasper) and their daughter Kaylee; grandchildren Mason Shepherd, Brandon Shepherd, Jake Shepherd and Shawn Shepherd Jr., niece Trina Peacock and family.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Mabel Shepherd, brother Eric Shepherd and son Wilfred Eric Shepherd.
Dennis moved to Hudson’s Hope on December 26, 1974 with his family where he shortly after began his 30 years working for the District of Hudson’s Hope. If you didn’t know him for running the garbage truck or ice rink, then you saw him mentoring the summer helpers.
Dennis, in his spare time, was an active volunteer fireman for the Beryl Fire Division for over 20 years. Outside of that, he also enjoyed coaching and playing softball every year in the summer, and in the winter, until recently, he enjoyed his hockey.
Dennis will be remembered always by his many friends and family members. Thank you for all your support and love.
