Hazardous harvest

Last Sunday's Hazardous Waste Roundup was a huge success, says Carmen Fennell of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District. Siucamous yielded 300 tires and two five-tonne truck loads of e-waste and small appliances. Goldenites dropped off 750 tires and 21 drums of hazardous waste while Revelstokians like these fellows produced enough hazardous waste to fill 11 drums and 15 pails. “We did see a variety of materials at these events, from adhesives, light ballasts and paint to tires, computers and toasters," Fennell said. "The feedback we receive at these events show that residents really appreciate this service. And we appreciate people taking the time to dispose of their hazardous material responsibly.” Photo courtesy of the CSRD
