A collection of work from last year’s Art in the Park created by local and provincial artists was showcased at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Championships in Whistler last week.
The work was displayed as part of the State of the Art exhibit held in the Convention Centre. It was seen by thousands of visitors from all over the world. Jacolyn Daniluck from Parks Canada in Revelstoke and Jackie Pendergast from Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre installed the exhibit and attended the opening reception.
“It was an incredible experience to participate in the event,” Jackie Pendergast, executive director of the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, said after her return home.
“Not only did the exhibit promote the work of the individual artists but it showed people who had never visited Glacier or Yoho National Parks what a fantastic source of inspiration they are. People were particularly interested in the locations used by the artists and many said they planned to visit in the summer. I feel very proud and privileged to have been part of the experience.”
