The funeral for the late David Johnson will be at 2 pm this Friday, March 23, at St. Peter’s Anglican Church with a reception to follow at the church hall.
“David had a passion for a lot of things,” said St. Peter’s Deacon Cathleen Busch.
One of those things was Revelstoke’s small Anglican parish where he often read the Sunday sermons.
David Johnson collapsed and died on Sunday morning while getting ready for church, which he and his wife Edna Mae faithfully attended every Sunday.
The church’s treasurer, he was a pillar of the small Anglican community and Busch said Revelstoke’s Anglicans “are still reeling from the shock.”
She said she expects a heavy turnout for David Johnson’s funeral, which will be conducted by Rev. Dan Meakes. Although the church proper only seats about 200 people, additional seating will be provided in the St. Peter’s church hall.
A reception hosted by the women of St. Peter’s will be held in the hall after the funeral.
