According to the North Columbia Environmental Society's Sarah Newton (left), "She gave lots of information and helpful tips on canning, dehydrating, pickling, and storage of root vegetables. Yvonne grew up in Quesnel and made annual trips to the Okanagan to get her fruit for the winter. She canned on wood fires, enough food to provide for her large family all winter."
