Do you have a magically evocative photo, artefact or anecdote linked to Revelstoke’s century-old history of skiing? If you do then the Revelstoke Museum & Archives wants to hear from you.
Following on the heels of its successful its photographic history book Reflections: Four Decades of Photographs by Earle & Estelle Dickey, the museum planning a new book project tracing the history of skiing in Revelstoke from its earliest days in the late 1800s to present day.
“These contributions may be used in the book or added to the museum’s archives for related exhibitions and projects on the history of skiing in Revelstoke,” Curator Cathy English said the press release announcing this new project.
Capturing the stories behind Revelstoke’s favourite pastime, this 144-page coffee table book will feature the characters, the records and the exhilaration of more than one hundred years of skiing. Discover Nordic and alpine skiing; ski jumping; ski joring; local, national and international competitions; helicopter and cat skiing; and the people who bring that history to life. The anticipated publication date is December 2012.
The book is a fundraiser for the Revelstoke Museum & Archives. Donations of any denomination are welcome.
