Remembrance Day is a time when people in communities across Canada gather to honor veterans who have given so much to all of us. It is always heartening to see so many young people and children in attendance. It is clear that the next generation will not forget.
We will not forget the work and sacrifice of those who have come before us. They have given us the gift of freedom and they have protected our democratic rights.
On this special day we remember those who have fallen, but each and every day we must show that we value the rights and freedoms their sacrifice gave us. We must follow the example that our veterans have set for us.
We must commit ourselves to looking after others. We must commit to protecting our freedom. And we must commit to furthering our right to govern ourselves fairly, for the good of all.
It is through these commitments that we keep faith with our veterans and with their memories.
