The board of School District 19 has approved a planned trip by bus, train and air to San Francisco by Revelstoke Secondary School music students.
The trip, scheduled for Jan. 28-Feb.2, will take students to a number of museums, a San Francisco Symphony performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, a musical workshop, a performance of their own at a local elementary school and a visit to Alcatraz.
The estimated cost of the trip is $1,400 per student. Superintendent Anne Cooper told Trustee Doug Hamilton that extensive fund-raising will be required to help defray the costs of the trip.
Junior music students will get a trip of their own, too, albeit not to locations quite as foreign. They’ll be going to Edmonton, Calgary and Canmore from April 29 until May 2.
