Elma Elvira Harrison passed away at Mt. Cartier Court Extended Care, Revelstoke on Wednesday, October 26th, 2011 at the age of 90 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Knights of Pythias Castle Hall, Revelstoke on Tuesday afternoon, November 1st at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Gary Sulz officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will take place next spring in the family plot of Mt. Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm, B.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3, in memory of Elma.
Elma was born in Shuswap, B.C., on September 10, 1921 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1948. She loved to play bingo and was an avid reader. Elma enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading Harlequin Romance novels. She was an ardent B.C. Lions fan and enjoyed watching the football games. Elma drove her friends to bingo and appointments in her prized 1986 Chevy Cavalier. She was a good cook and enjoyed baking for her family. Elma also enjoyed going out for Chinese Food. She loved all her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand dogs.
Elma was predeceased by three brothers: Sol Soon, Matt Soon and Arvo Soon and one sister Ina Blanc. She is survived by three children: Melvyn Harrison of Revelstoke, Maureen (Gordon) Markstrom of Revelstoke and Doug (Barb) Harrison of Surrey; seven grandchildren: Teresa (Sam) LeRose of Revelstoke, Molly (Bob) French of Lafayette, Colorado, Brian Steffes of Surrey, Clint (Charity) Harrison of Revelstoke, Matt (Angela) Harrison of Missoula, Montana, Katy (John) Steiert of Suffolk, Virginia and Jessica Harrison of Revelstoke; eight great grandchildren: Ally, AJ, Austin, Ethan, Caden, Sarah, Kyra and Halle; sister-in-law Pearl Stoodley of Powell River as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
