The RSS Senior Girls Cross-Country team showed what they are capable of when they won the OVSAA Cross Country Championships at the Larch Hills Cross Country Ski Area on Tuesday, October 25.
“What a fantastic day in Salmon Arm!” their excited coach Jeff Wilson said on the team’s blog. “Congratulations to all our Revelstoke runners for their fine performances and for bringing home the first valley pennants to decorate the shiny, new walls here at RSS.”
He said the junior boys placed third in their category, and 7th overall, while on the girls side “if I had to pick one word it would be ‘Domination!'”
“In a field of over 100 girls from around the Okanagan Valley, Britt and Megan Evans placed second and third overall,” Wilson said. “Delyth Harper was 9th, Leslie Opatril was 13th, and Tayla Koerber was 17th overall. Not only did these girls qualify for provincials as individuals, their point total as a team made them the Okanagan Valley Champions for 2011/2012. They brought home a great looking trophy and pennant, and you can see it on display in the cabinets in the front foyer.
“In the junior girls’ category, Emily Unterberger, Jayda Park, and Maxine Opatril added their strong finishes to Megan and Tayla’s scores to win the pennant and become the Junior Girls Valley Champions for this year.”
