Cyclist injured on Victoria Road — updated 2011-08-16First Responders from the Fire Rescue Service and paramedics carry an injured cyclist to the ambulance after an accident involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle by the Esso station on Victoria Road at Kootenay Avenue. The accident occurred at about 3:15 pm.An investigation determined that the cyclist was riding on the sidewalk and surprised the driver who was exiting from the gas station. The resulting collision bruised the leg of the 30-year-old female from Britain. The woman is on a charity ride to raise money in memory of her brother who died in Iraq and was with the British Forces. No charges were laid in the incident but police would like to remind cyclists that it is illegal to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.David F. Rooney photo
