Drive-by shooting in the Big Eddy

A 54-year-old man was arrested after a drive-by shooting in the Big Eddy on Monday.

Fortunately, it wasn’t a Vancouver-style drive-by involving a real handgun or semi-automatic weapon — instead an RCMP investigation showed the operator of a mini-van drove down Celgar Road and shot out the back window of a parked vehicle in the 1700 block with a pellet gun.

A statement from RCMP Cpl. Rod Wiebe said the suspect was apprehended by the owner of the damaged vehicle.

The suspect was later released for an October court date.  A charge of mischief under $5,000 and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace will be recommended.  Alcohol was a factor in this incident.  The investigation is continuing and police are not ruling out additional charges.
