The Revelstoke Accommodation Association and the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce/Revelstoke Tourism have signed an agreement that will help guide each entity in the area of tourism marketing for their respective memberships and tourism of Revelstoke and area.
“It makes great sense for the RCC to work closely with RAA in an effort to put a strong cohesive message out there about why Revelstoke is The Place to do business, live and play!” Chamber President Brydon Roe said in a joint news release issued Tuesday afternoon.
The two agencies had competing visions for tourism marketing that sometimes led to friction between them. It was serious enough that City Council called on both agencies to come to an agreement of some kind.
The agreement was first proposed by the Chamber of Commerce to assist each entity and their employees in the day-to-day and long-term marketing of Revelstoke. The Revelstoke Accommodation Association (RAA) and the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce (RCC) agree to work cooperatively on tourism marketing and advertising initiatives on behalf of each entity membership and the community as a whole.
“I am delighted both organizations can see and work towards common goals,” Norman Langlois, president of the Revelstoke Accommodation Association, said in the statement. “I believe together we can build a stronger brand awareness and attract new visitors to our beautiful community.”
The RAA and the RCC will ensure there are no duplications of activities, promotions and events by actively consulting on a regular basis and developing an annual operating plan. This agreement will also ensure that the RAA and RCC will also be a coordinated force when dealing with Kootenay Rockies Tourism, Tourism BC as well as various other tourism related associations and funding partners, the statement said.
