A Monday evening rockfall has closed Westside Road, Darren Komonoski, operations manager for the City’s Department of Engineering and Public Works, told Council on Tuesday.
The rockfall occurred at about 8:30 Monday evening. It is about 16 metres wide and the road will remain closed until at least 6 pm on Wednesday. Even then, Komonoski said he has little confidence that it will be cleared by then.
“It came down about 400 metres south of the Jordan River Bridge,” he told Mayor David Raven and City Councillors who were meeting as a Committee of the Whole.
Essential services and residential traffic are being routed across the Revelstoke Dam.
