The BC Hydro Employees’ Community Services Fund (HYDRECS) reminds British Columbia-based registered charities in the health and social service sector that the deadline is approaching for applications for its annual Special Projects fundraising campaign. Successful projects could receive funding up to $100,000 to support their capital projects.
The deadline is May 15.
The HYDRECS’ Special Project campaign will raise important funds for five agencies in B.C. to support their individual capital or program fundraising efforts. Past Special Projects that have benefited from the campaign include: The Denman Health Centre Society for the installation of an emergency electric start generator, and The Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation to help fund the purchase of a CT scanner.
Campaign funds are raised annually between September and December through donations from current and retired BC Hydro employees who are given a choice to donate to the Special Projects or to any listed registered charity of their choice.
Over 600 registered charities have received monetary contributions by BC Hydro employees and retirees through the HYDRECS Fund. Last year, HYDRECS surpassed its $975,000 pledge target, raising more than $1,000,000.
HYDRECS’ Special Project details and criteria:
- The HYDRECS Committee will review and select one provincial and four regional agencies
- The provincial project is for a capital project with a provincial scope. Projects can receive funding for up to $100,000.
- Regional projects are split into four regions with the following funding amounts for a capital project or a program: up to $30,000 in the Lower Mainland, and up to $10,000 for Vancouver Island, the South Interior, and the North.
