Santo Francis Fuoco passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 at the age of 86 years. A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke on Friday, January 7th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to meet at the Legion by 12:45 for a procession to the cemetery. A Reception will follow the interment in the Senior Citizen’s Center and all are welcome to attend. Those unable to be present at the cemetery are welcome to go directly to the Senior’s Center and the family will join you there. Honorary pallbearers are David Fuoco, Barry Camozzi, Bob Cameron, Cory Cameron, Ken Haddad, Paul Salva, Ken Gill, Marc Chabot, James McGill and Todd Merritt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Community Foundation, Box 2398, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Santo.
Santo was born in Revelstoke, B.C. on December 18, 1924, and had been a life-long resident. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Pilot Officer (mid gunner) from 1942 to 1945. Santo was active in all sports, mainly golf, softball, bowling and hockey. He played in the Lost Legs Hockey League until he was 79 years old. He played on the first and oldest, Revelstoke hockey team to play in a tournament outside of Revelstoke at the Coy Cup in Prince George. Santo also enjoyed playing cards; poker and solo were his games. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, huckleberry picking and loved to dance. Santo especially enjoyed fishing with his good friend Nick Kinicki.
Santo was predeceased by his parents Guiseppe and Maria; siblings: Rose Woollard, Carmen Fuoco, Jim Fuoco, John Fuoco, Pete Fuoco, Betty Onischuk, Greg Fuoco and Chat Fuoco. He is survived by his wife Annette of Revelstoke; two sons: Grant of Revelstoke and Geoff (Jenn) of Sicamous; two grandchildren: Hunter of Revelstoke and Allie of West Kelowna; one sister, Sister Christina Marie Fuoco of Camrose, Alberta; brother-in-law Terry (Maureen) Wood of Williams Lake; sisters-in-law: Mary Fuoco, Elsie Fuoco and Ellen Fuoco, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
