What happened to the man with the long cowboy jacket and hat with horse and carriage that was taking travellers for a Columbia Riverside stroll?
The Revelstoke Petting Zoo was a serious concern for those aware of it in Revelstoke. While Revelstoke does have sections of the community that allow for chickens, having a petting zoo in the Columbia Park area was of a major concern for those surrounding it. James Bruvall has been charged with 24 counts of animal cruelty after 15 animals suffered seizures on the property in July of 2017.
The BC SPCA stated that five horses, two mini-horses, three pigs, a goat, a peacock and an alpaca were suffering while being housed on the property. During the search, a deceased pig was found on the lot. According to a release from the SPCA on Friday, almost all of the animals have been adopted, with the exception of one goat.
Chief Prevention and Enforcement Officer, Marcie Moriarty stated “We are very pleased that charges have been approved against Mr. Bruvall, This is a very sad case where profits were clearly placed before the welfare of the animals in his care.”
Bruvall faces a $75,000 fine, a lifetime ban on owning animals and faces a maximum sentence of five years in jail. No date has been set as of yet for trial.
