Columbia Basin Trust Grants Revelstoke Over 300K For Infrastructure Upgrades & Quality Of Life Projects

Not many communities outside of the Basin get the opportunities to grow and expand existing societies or community minded projects because the funds simply are not there. While the folks of Revelstoke have never been shy to bake a few thousand Rice Krispy Squares and sell them at raffles and bake sales to draw awareness and raise money to their cause, it certainly helps when the Columbia Basin Trust steps into the picture with a big ol’ wad of cash to help the process along.

The Columbia Basin Trust Infrastructure Grants haven been released and Revelstoke has been the recipient of five independent grants to help keep this community growing and in a healthy way whether it be physically or mentally. Revelstoke will be receiving a total of $331,200 from the Basin this year.

1. The Farwell Splash Park Society was granted $200,000 to help rejuvenate the dilapidated park at the bottom of 1^st Street turning it into a colourful water park for all members of the family to enjoy.
2. The Nordic Ski Club was granted $60,000 for expansion of the Nordic Ski trail for further recreational use as well as parking expansion to accommodate the growing needs as more enthusiasts are joining in.
3. The Revy Riders Dirt Bike Club will be ripping it up after they construct a multi-use off road single track vehicle trail with their $34,700 grant.
4. BC Interior Forestry Museum & Discovery Centre received a grant of $23,000 to construct multi-use trails for residents and visitors to the Forestry Museum.
5. The Revelstoke Cycling Club will be getting $13,500 to expand 800 metres of biking trail to keep up with the demand and the growing tourism sector for outdoor recreational biking.

Overall, Cranbrook was granted the highest dollar point at $569,640.00 with 500K of it for an indoor sports facility that will allow for year-round access to field based sports; Invermere will be looking towards their respective amount totalling $378,300 for improvements; Golden came in at $342k for some great improvements to the Kicking Horse area and Revelstoke rolling in at $331,200.00 in total to improve the quality of life in our area.
