John Mitchell Clarkson passed away in Queen Victoria Hospital on Tuesday February 13, 2018 at the age of 57 years, following eight years of illness. There will be no formal funeral service by John’s own request.
John was born in Vancouver, B.C. on August 15, 1960 and spent his early years and young adulthood enjoying everything the coast offered. He was a smart young man that advanced quickly in class and in sport. At the age of 12 years John was certified to lifeguard but too young to fill a lifeguarding position. He enjoyed soccer, football, golfing, lacrosse, downhill skiing and hockey. At the age of 18 years John was asked to play goalie for the Vancouver Canucks farm team. He chose not to take that road and stayed closer to home instead. John moved to Revelstoke in the early 1980’s and found enjoyment working in the bush. He developed good friendships and excelled in logging sport. John broke records as a buckerman and continued to show his sportsmanship and athleticism through his passion and hard work.
John is survived by his mother Janet Clarkson of Revelstoke, several cousins in B.C. and Alberta and numerous close friends.
Online condolences may be sent to the family through John’s obituary at www.brandonbowersfuneralhome.com.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
