A young kid, just turned 19 comes to Revelstoke to hit the slopes and enjoy the mountain life. He purchases his first car- an old beater with Society Snow & Skate, RMR, Village Idiot, and Somewon stickers all over the back end and a dent in the front right fender; a beater to the locals, a gem to him. This $1500 purchase will take him places.
Revelstoke is hit with a massive snow storm, the roads are a disaster and the poor young transient is driving in this for the first time! He is overwhelmed as he knew it would snow, but not like this! He is reminded of a tip his father told him before he left home to party on the other side of the world.
“Listen, you are still just a kid and you don’t know the roads over there. If you ever get stuck in a snowstorm, just wait for a snow plow to come by and follow it. Your mother and I do not want to receive a phone call that you are hurt or worse.”
Sure enough, pretty soon a snow plow came by, and he started to follow it. The kid followed the plow for about forty-five minutes. He white knuckled it and drove ever so slowly and carefully. Finally the driver of the truck got out and asked him what he was doing.
He explained that his old man had said if he was to be stuck in a snow storm, he should follow a plow. The driver nodded in agreement and said, “Well, I’m done with the Save-On-Foods parking lot, do you want to follow me over to Southside now?”
