UPDATE: The missing 10-year old boy who was in the Toyota Matrix that went off the cliff into the Upper Arrow Lake, body has been recovered.
Police confirmed that the body was recovered by the under water search team. The names of the individuals have not been released.
In a statement from the Kootenay Boundary Regional District RCMP, Sgt. Monty Taylor said “This is a tragic end to a family’s holiday season, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and their extended network of family and friends.”
The cause of the vehicle to plunge into the lake is still under investigation.
A 10-year old boy is missing and RCMP divers are searching the Upper Arrow Lake after a Toyota Matrix plunged into the lake after losing control and swerving of a steep embankment on Highway 23 North south of Halcyon Hot-Springs on Wednesday, December 27th.
The driver was a 37-year old male who had in tow with him the 10-year old boy and 11-year old girl; both the adult male and young girl were able to escape the submerged Toyota, however the young boy did not surface.
Search and Rescue teams were brought to the scene, but were unable to locate the missing boy. The search resumed today, with no report on the whereabouts of the missing child.
