Western Washington University student Sasha Elena Alden, daughter of Wade Alden of Pasadena. Calif. and Rebekah Jenkins of Revelstoke, has received the $1,500 Verna Alexander Price Chemistry Scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The Verna Alexander Price Chemistry Scholarship is awarded to Chemistry majors.
Alden graduated from Issaquah High School in 2014. She is an undergraduate student at Western majoring in Chemistry and takes part in alternative fuels research.

The Revelstoke Community Foundation has published its 2016 Annual Report, which reports to the public on its success last year.
“Distributions of endowment investment earnings during 2016 totalled $82,680 including 18 grants supporting a wide variety of projects, 40 Scholarships and 11 distributions of designated funds,” Foundation Chairwoman Tracy Spannier said in the report.
“During 2016, our community has been fortunate to witness our community coming together including the QVH Helipad Project and funds raised by Revelstoke for Refugees. While these were not Community Foundation projects, we are proud of the amazing examples of philanthropy in Revelstoke.”
Donations to the Foundation’s endowment funds during 2016 amounted to $44,142 bringing the total contributions to the endowment since inception in 1998 to $1,692,782. The endowment funds market value at December 31, 2016, was $2,287,564

The Mt Revelstoke Quilters are still going strong and will be setting up their annual display at ORL on June 27 that will run to the end of August, Sharon Cain said.
“Thanks to the CU Community Giving Grant we have made many quilts for Hospice, New Year’s Baby, placemats to brighten up a client’s day at the Cottages, Moberly Manor and Meal on Wheels,” she said in an e-mail to The Current. “Numerous quilts have been given to organizations for their fundraising in the past as well.”

Revelstoke Minor Ball celebrates another successful season on Monday, June 26, at Centennial Park at 5:30 pm.
“It is hard to believe this is our last week of regular practices and games,” RMB Chairwoman Mandy MacQuarrie said in an e-mail to parents. “It has been a great season and I want to thank all of our coaches for their dedication this year! Without them Minor Ball would not be possible. As well, I would like to thank the numerous dedicated volunteers who sit on our executive; your efforts are greatly appreciated.”
Mandy said the annual year-end wind up will feature Padrino’s pizza for everyone; parents and siblings included, fresh fruit compliments of Southside Market and cupcakes from Pip & Dex who has once again generously donated the time and labour to make the delicious treats. Thank you Southside and Dayna Leonard 🙂
Children are asked to come dressed in full uniform (although there is no practice) so they can receive something from their coaches:) The Timbit divisions will receive a medal and certificate (Beginner, Rally Cap and Tadpole Divisions). Mosquito and PeeWee Players receive a certificate only. We will also draw the prizes for our raffle ticket fundraiser.
