Gizella was born on April 25, 1922, in Borsod Megye, Doveny, Hungary. She immigrated to Revelstoke on May 10th, 1936, and has resided here since that time.
Gizella always put her family first and if you were to stop in, there was always delicious food to be eaten. We will all remember her delicious chicken soup, paprika chicken and dumplings and all the various homemade pastries. You never left her house without a full stomach and she always made sure you had extra for the drive home.
Gizella also had a green thumb! From all the delicious fresh vegetables, fruit trees to the array of flowers – her garden always produced a bounty for all to enjoy.
Gizella will be fondly remembered for her passion and her drive. Despite having both her knees replaced, she always had soup on the stove. Her perseverance and determination was always recognizable. She was an active member of her community having bowled for twenty years, participating as a member of the Revelstoke Senior Citizen’s Association, and as a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. You could often find her enjoying a game of bingo and also taking trips to Reno. Luck was always on her side.
Gizella was predeceased by her husband Andras (Andy) Henyecz and both her parents, Gizella and Steve Bede in 1985. She was also predeceased by her four brothers and their spouses, Steve (Julia) Bede, Alex (Veronica) Bede, Gilbert (Dorothy) Bede and Jim Bede.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Andy Henyecz of Revelstoke, Zolti (Marilyn) Henyecz of Port Coquitlam and Rose (Bill) Delorme of Duncan; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren (whom she adored), and her many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you for all the wonderful care and compassion received from Dr. Leslie for many years and most recently from Dr. K. McCarroll, Anne Marie Gill, all the nurses and caregivers at Mt. Cartier Court; all the caregivers at Moberly Manor and also to Fern and Jan at Nim’s Manor for being there for Mom. Thanks to all for their empathy, understanding and good will.
Rest in Peace Mom/Grandma. Heaven has gained an Angel. You will be missed by all.
