Garry Pendergast retires in style

On Saturday, The Revelstoke Performing Arts Council, Family members, friends and colleagues came to the Visual Arts Centre to bid Garry Pendergast a retirement adieu. It has often been said that behind every successful man there’s a strong, smart woman. In Garry’s case that would be Jackie, who retired lst year as executive director of the Visual Arts Centre. On Saturday, The Revelstoke Performing Arts Council, family members, friends and colleagues came to the Visual Arts Centre to bid Garry Pendergast a retirement adieu.

After 10 years of serving as our Executive Director, Garry of course had a huge hand in the transformation and growth of the Arts in Revelstoke. The shows came and weno, but Garry was always the one behind the desk writing the necessary grant applications needed to ensure our community had an outlet for culture. Anyone who has ever written a grant knows how tedious, time consuming and frustrating it can be as all grant applications are usually double-sided red tape. Garry was consistent, persistent and found grants in all the little little nooks and crannies that someone else (like me) would not have known about.

Along with the board, Garry helped pave the way for the next generation to step up, take the reins and continue the success of the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre thereby honoring his hard work.

Miriam Manley is taking on the challenging role of executive director and putting a new spin and a keen eye on arts and culture in town.
