The North Okanagan/Columbia Shuswap Regional Hospital District (NOCSRHD) has approved a motion to allocate $186,000 from its 2017 budget for construction of the Queen Victoria Hospital helipad, says a statement from the Revelstoke District Health Foundation.
The Helipad Project is clearly on a roll. Last week it received $50,000 from the province and $20,000 from BC Hydro. It has now well-exceeded its $465,000 fund-raising goal.
The NOCSRHD provides capital funding for building new hospitals, major renovations, machinery and equipment purchases in our region.
The Health Foundation was ecstatic with the announcement of this support from the NOCSRHD. Having this kind of support means the Regional Hospital District regards this helipad as important and they want to see it built quickly and properly, the Foundation said in a statement announcing the allocation, which was made at the NOCSRHD board meeting on Tuesday, March 28.
“The heliport project at the Queen Victoria Hospital is clearly a community priority that will enhance our ability to provide timely critical emergency care for our residents and visitors,” said Loni Parker, who sits on the NOCSRHD board and who moved the allocation as director of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s Area B. “I’m very pleased that the NOCSRHD Board recognized this and supported the funding request from the Revelstoke District Health Foundation.”
The Revelstoke District Health Foundation would like to sincerely thank Loni Parker, Columbia Shuswap Regional District Area B director, for her work in bringing this motion to the board and seeing it passed. Also a thank-you to all the North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap Regional Hospital District board members for understanding the importance of the helipad for emergency health services in the Revelstoke community, the Foundation’s statement said.
