Obituary Notice — Grace Isabel Smith

Grace Isabel Smith
1935 – 2017

Grace Isabel Smith passed away at Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, BC, on January 1, 2017, at the age of 81, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s / Dementia.  Grace was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, on June 23, 1935.

‘Gracie’ as she was affectionately known, moved to Keremeos, BC, in 1959, where she met her future husband Floyd.  In 1961 they moved to Revelstoke where they raised two daughters.

Gracie worked as a waitress before managing SAAN Store for over 10 years. Following Floyd’s transfer to Salmon Arm in 1984 she began work at the Credit Union Ticket Wicket, selling community event and lottery tickets.

She loved providing for her family. Her encouraging “Go for it!” saying instilled confidence.  Gracie had many hobbies and would often be found sharing her time with her husband sewing, canning, gardening, cooking, doing crafts and playing bingo to name a few.  She was the best pie maker, crocheted to perfection and flawlessly sewed many articles of clothing for her family.

Gracie is reunited with her loving husband, Floyd, who passed away in June 2016 and is predeceased by her daughter, Lisa, in 2010.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Candy and husband Derek.

We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, care aides and the staff at Hillside Village that made Mom’s ‘Home away from Home’ comfortable.

A private family service will be held in the spring.

But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we’re just glad we knew you,
As Mother, and as Friend
