Doug Clovechok may have lost his first bid for political office in 2013, but he is the kind of candidate who dusts himself off and gets ready for the next round, which is coming up in May 2017.
In fact, since 2013 he has immersed in BC Liberal Party activities, serving on its Executive Council representing the ridings of East and West Kootenays, Nelson Creston, and Columbia River Revelstoke. He says he has been acting as “the un-elected MLA” by representing constituents’ views on issues such as the Trans-Canada Highway improvements to party leaders in Victoria.
Clovechok has been in Revelstoke many times since the 2013 election and was back this last weekend to meet party members and discuss the next election, scheduled for May 9, 2017 — just over six months from now.
I caught up with Doug at Zala’s Restaurant and recorded a brief, 10-minute interview with him. Please activate the YouTube player below to watch.
