Film, A New Economy, was really worth watching 2016-10-21The Revelstoke Credit Union screened a fascinating film, A New Economy, about the growing interest in cooperative business ventures, as exemplified by coops in Vancouver, London, Ont., Montreal, San Francisco and Wellington, New Zealand. Jamie Hobgood, shown here on stage at the Performing Arts Centre, introduced the free, 81-minute-long film to the audience of about 60 people. A New Economy explores, in a very hopeful manner, what happens as several organizations strive towards building a more cooperative future. By putting humanity before the bottom line, they are finding their place in an economy that may be on the cusp of shifting to a more socially and environmentally sustainable model from the existing model dominated by profits and big business.
